John Terry - the the butt of internet jokes for his tears and shanked Champions League penalty - was chosen as Fabio Capello's captain for the friendly against USA at Wembley.
However, he is by no means the only candidate for the role. Rio Ferdinand was previously thought to be the preferred choice of 'Don Fabio' , while Steven Gerrard has also skippered the side under Capello. And Aston Villa's Gareth Barry is expected to wear the armband for the first time against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
What is better - Terry's blood and thunder approach or Gerrard's 'laissez-faire' approach? Who do you think is the best man for the captain's role? Have your say HERE.
I am very sorry Steve G fans, but Gerrard for me is not worth an England shirt least of all the armband. The reasons for this are simple, it was his back pass to JAMES that lead to the PENALTY that knocked us out a few years ago, a SCHOOL BOY player knows to clear it down the sides and not back to the keeper or have we forgotten that, also he is always going for goal when he should hold it up or pass.
Terry has done a good job but if Terry is out then maybe somebody else, Rooney perhaps.
As an Evertonian I hate to say it but Gerrard has more drive and passion about his game than the rest of them put together
Stevie G all the way !!!!!!!!
as a massive Liverpool FC fan, only one choice for me it has to be Steven Gerrard (by the way he hates being called stevie g).
he was always there whenever he was needed and did not complain when he was not offered it, unlike a certain chelsea player! who was useless (yes i mean John terry)
l love steve g is man to b .a england skipper.
