John Terry - the the butt of internet jokes for his tears and shanked Champions League penalty - was chosen as Fabio Capello's captain for the friendly against USA at Wembley.
However, he is by no means the only candidate for the role. Rio Ferdinand was previously thought to be the preferred choice of 'Don Fabio' , while Steven Gerrard has also skippered the side under Capello. And Aston Villa's Gareth Barry is expected to wear the armband for the first time against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
What is better - Terry's blood and thunder approach or Gerrard's 'laissez-faire' approach? Who do you think is the best man for the captain's role? Have your say HERE.
barry! even though im sad hes levein villa he deserves to be the skipper after every think hes bin through and he gives 200% for his country every game a great inspiration to the whole england team
Gerrard, he always gives 100% no matter where he plays for club and country. He has more drive and passion than any other player and he is a great captian, look at the way her turned liverpool around in the 2005 champions league final when liverpool where loosing 3-0 he got the team together and they won, for me no other person will do.
Gerrard should be da captain as he gives 1000000000000000% everygame for both england and liverpool lampard is gr8 i admit that but thats only for chelski, when he plays for england they either draw or lose, so gerrard all the way.
How Hard??? GERRARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although i am a Chelsea fan this does not alter my choice of Lampard.
I personally think Frank Lampard give 110% every game he plays in and he fights for everything.
Lampard has great courage and a strong personality in the dressing room.
He also know how to take a penalty under pressure.
He showed this when he scored that crucial penalty just a few days after his mother passed away.
Lampard is a great player and deserves a chance at being the leader on the pitch.
Mart from sussex! Rooney is too violent when it comes down to it and Terry talking about penalties, did you watch the Man u V Chelsea match, missed it by miles.
At least Steven Gerrard has passion and a thirst for the game.
GERRARD all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
