A report has revealed that the cost of season tickets for next year at Premier League clubs has risen by 8% - that's more than twice the rate of consumer price inflation.
The average cost of a mid-priced season ticket has risen to £590, with some clubs' prices going up by as much as 20 per cent.
Premier League clubs get huge benefits from television revenues, which have increased rapidly in recent years - yet still they continue to impose substantial increases in season ticket costs.
Is the bubble set to burst? Are ordinary folk being priced out of football? Is Premier League football going to be restricted to the 'prawn sandwich' brigade? Share your views here.
i watch football over my local park .just as good as pro football and it dont cost you anything. i have not been to fratton for years it cost to much money
Nobody will say prices are reasonable, but still the stadiums are filled to overflow. True fans are taken for a ride in every way, Sky/Sentanta/BBC are in on the act and are also part of the problem.
Football has failed to recognise that it is in the entertainment industry and as such is vastly over priced . Most clubs think that the fans have a moral perogative to support the team but fail to realise they have many other committements. My own team; Hamilton, having just recently been promoted to the SPL announced the 4th highest season ticket prices in the league. Will I watch our opening game on Setantanta..........who knows.
i now watch local football
30 million per team in the prem this year and has any team dropped prices? Oh yes Chelsea have pegged thiers for the 4th year and reduced prices for cup games (which there seem to be a lot of even if we do sometimes lose) been to four cup finals in 2 years and numerous cup and league games AND ITS MY CHOICE. If it becomes too expensive i will stop (and someone else will fill the gap) . Do you really think clubs will reduce ticket prices if the players demand less? Of course they wont, it will go into the directors pocket. We have a great stadium, food and Team ,Oh and an owner thats spends out of his own pocket cos he is a 'true supporter' just like the rest of us.
