Lampard: £151,000 a week - because he's worth it?

The most tedious saga of the football summer - and boy, have there been a few, what with Berbatov, Ronaldo and Barry to compete with it - is finally over. And surprise surprise, Frank Lampard is staying at Chelsea after all - now that the club have dangled a hefty five-year contract worth a reported £151,000 a week.

The club say that he's.....hang on a minute, £151,000 a week! For a 30-year-old who can't oust Gareth Barry from the England team, who most commentators say has his best days behind him? What could he possibly need it all for? What if anything will team-mate Ashley Cole say - having almost swerved memorably off the road at not even getting £60,000 a week!

Frank's by no means the only current player with a pay packet at odds with the way 99 per cent of British people have to live.

Are Chelsea pushing football's inflationary salaries too high - at a time when most families face the prospect of 5 per cent inflation?

Last night's lacklustre performance by LIMPARD was another insult to the hard-working, skint fans who turn up to watch greedy sub-standard players of this ilk, blatantly taking the piss!! The limitations of his game were plain to see...Chelsea MUST have more money then sense...150,000/week over 5 years...OBSCENE.

There are children dieing of starvation all over the world and Lampard demands that much a week to kick a bag of air around, its pathetic. Players should be payed much less and the F.A should donate money to third world countries.
