Is 'football's bad boy' too strong a term now for Joey Barton? After having been imprisoned for his assault on a passer-by in Liverpool City Centre, he has now been found guilty of attacking fellow professional footballer Ousmane Dabo during a training session while the two were at Manchester City.
Because Barton realised he would not face an extension to his jail sentence, he pleaded guilty.
He is also now likely to be able to leave prison on parole - which would mean his sentence would neatly cover the period between the end of the old football season and pre-season training for the new one, meaning he'd be able to return comfortably to earning his huge salary.
Some reports suggest Barton faces the prospect of being kicked out of his club Newcastle - but will Kevin Keegan have the bottle?
For that matter, should Barton even be allowed back into football at all, given the repeated offences and the flagrant disregard for the safety of a club-mate? Share your views HERE.

Simple, Sack him now, lifetime ban from football, after watching those tv pictures !!!!
here is an interesting little scenario, what will happen when newcastle and sunderland meet in a derby, barton for the toon and el haj diouf for the black cats, could be interesting if both are on form!!!!.
he did the crime and took the time let him be!
Joey Barton very definitely doesn't deserve the right to play football if all he wants to do is attack passers by. Keegan is an idiot to let him play. it's not as if he's the only player to fill that position. There are plenty of young talent elsewhere they can look at bringing in.
Joey Barton is like so many of our football millionaires who beleive they are above approach.
Kevin Keegan now is the time you should be showing staff like this and show him the door, because as sure as eggs are eggs he will do it all again in time.
Never mind the finance write it off, I am sure there are some fine young men in the Newcastle setup who would be so proud to be given a chance and would hold that chance in high esteem not pull the name of english football into the mire as Joey Barton has done. Yes Mr Keegan the man has shot himself in the foot disregarding the public who go a long way to paying his wages, GET RID OF THIS PRIZE PARASITE.
