Champions League - the draw

Here's how the Champions League draw happened on Virgin Media Sport. Your blogger was Rob Fielding, probably the only Port Vale supporting blogger around.

So that's it. Thanks for dropping by. And don't be a stranger...

Serious stuff now. The completed groups are:

Group A: Chelsea, AS Roma, Bordeaux, Cluj
Group B: Inter, Werder, Panathinaikos, Anorthosis
Group C: Barcelona, Sporting, FC Basel, Shakhtar
Group D: Liverpool, PSV, Marseille, Atletico
Group E: Man Utd , Villarreal, Celtic, Aalborg
Group F: Lyon, Bayern, Steaua, Fiorentina
Group G: Arsenal, FC Porto, Fenerbahce, Dinamo KievGroup H: Real Madrid, Juventus, Zenit, Bate

Man Utd get drawn with Celtic, while Chelsea get Roma. What are your thoughts? Post your reaction to the draw through the comments at the bottom of the page.

17:44 CFR 1907 Cluj? Is that a real club or has someone at UEFA let their two year-old loose on the keyboad? Sorry, any Cluj fans out there!

17:41 It's pot four, the one you are all waiting for. Just who will Anorthosis Famagusta and FC BATE Borisov draw?

17:40 The award for forward of the year goes to Man Utd midfielder Ronaldo. He hobbles up.

17:38 Respectful applause as Eusebio enters the stage. Good, he deserves it. Here are the nominees for forward of the year... Drogba, Kalou, Anelka and Shevchenko

17:36 Fenerbahce are in Arsenal's group. Bordeux are in Chelsea's group. I'll post the full groups at the end of the draw itself.

17:35 I'm still waiting for Fil to show me how easy it is to explain who's playing who...

Jay says "I thought you added some much needed humour to this dreadfully dreary, unecessarily prestigious ball-choosing ceremony." I didn't post this myself.

17:30 PSV Eindhoven are in (Lucky) Liverpool's group. The Chelsea midfielder of the year award goes to Frank Lampard. That's awards for Cech, Terry and Lampard so far. Old Nic Anelka must be fancying his chances right now...

hafsah says "Get. on. With. It." I agree entirely. Instead, we've got yet more bad music and flashy highlights.

17:28 Porto drawn in Arsenal's group. Roma in Chelsea's group. Some tasty ties there.

dbhardhousefever says "your stupid, stop writing this stuff it aint funny" Oh well, you can't please everyone, I guess...

Fil says YOU ARE THE WORST COMMENTATOR I HAVE EVER HAD THE MIS FORTUNE TO HEAR.... IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE YOU PILL. Alright Fil, you do it then. Come on, I'm waiting for your minute-by-minute comments. Oh, and "misfortune" is one word.

17:21 John Terry has won an award! "Best penalty taker" last season, perhaps? Nah, apparently Cech is best keeper of last year's competition, while Terry is best defender. Wes Brown must be livid.

17:18 Come on Pedro! You need to explain to us what is happening. Now, who is this bloke on stage? He looks a little like Michael Fish. More highlights, a drum solo. Will this ever end?

17:16 THIS JUST IN... Arsenal FC. Will... erm... be playing someone... in a group... soon. Honest.

17:15 Now some of the balls have been moved into another pot. What on earth is going on? Would you prefer it if I just waited until the screen shows the final group line-ups?

17:14 Chelsea FC have been drawn out. I have no idea what that means. Don't worry, all will be revealed soon.

17:13 More loud music. More highlights. Get. On. With. It.

17;11 So, the draw is really simple, the computer draw will determine the red balls.... zzzzz... must have dropped off there. Sorry.

17;10 Wow. It's UEFA General Secretary David Taylor to talk to us about the draw itself. UEFA... you spoil us...

17:08 Now a very small man appears on stage. He only reaches Pedro's chest. It's Bruno Conti, the former Italian International, apparently.

17:06 The winner was Petr Cech. Gawd knows what for. "Best Champions League Hat" perhaps?

17:05 Talking of noses, here's Peter Schmeichel to present a meaningless award. Ho hum...

17:03 Cue highlights from last season's comp complete with bad Europop guitar track. Sir Alex looks vaguely embarassed as the camera nearly disappears up his nose.

17:00 It's all gone dark. No, wait, here are our presenters including the brilliantly named Pedro Pinto. The audience look enthralled.

16:59 I can exclusively reveal that my TV screen is showing.... an empty stage. Wow! That *was* worth waiting for.

16:53 Hello, hello. All set for the big draw? I expect we'll have to sit through some tedious speech beforehands though! Onto other news and little, tiny Shaun Wright-Phillips is back at Man Citeh. What do you think of that Blues fans?

Rob's preamble: Well, I was on duty at VM Towers last night and I've only just recovered from a dramatic night of footy action. And I'm not just talking about the Carling Cup results. Liverpool had to rely on him from the Goonies to claw an unlikely victory at Anfield. But at some cost as Stevie G is forced out of action for two weeks.

Meanwhile, Steve McClaren must be fuming (in a dodgy Dutch accent) at his players after Arsenal hit four against FC Twente at the Emirates.

Join me at 4:30pm for our full draw coverage. I'll put the kettle on...

Please Kevin do not be so silly.Ask any Man Utd or Liverpool fan and all of the European teams what Celtic support visiitng your town or City means before making such a comment.Awards from National international and local bodies reflecting the thanks and behaiour of the local populace thanking visiting fans from Celtic and Scvotland stand testament to thier carnival and friendly attitude when travelling and anyone from visiting clubs will I'm sure testify to the warmth and hospitality recieved when visiting Celtic or Hampden park.(Go to youtube and watch the Loch lomond v France at hampden video).
So Please ,CAN IT!and refrain from tarring all Scots fans with the dirty stick of the events at last years UEFA cup final.
