Sepp Blatter is confident that the number of foreign players in a club side can be reduced to seven in time for the 2010-11 season.
The Fifa president pointed to the Premier League's dominance in this season's Champions League as a reason why his organisation must implement the idea, despite legal concerns from the EU and Uefa president Michel Platini.
Stressing that Fifa would proceed "within the limits of the law", Blatter said: "It is to make sure that there is better balance in the competitions and not only three or four teams in a league of 18 or 20 are fighting to be the champion and all the others are just there to not be relegated."
Do you agree with this move?
i agree with blatter and im an arsenal fan lol if we adopt this method i honestly think that our national team over time will benefit from this because as it stands at the moment good english players are not getting the chance in the teams therefor our national game is suffering
only Man Utd and Chelsea will benefit from quotas, as they are currently the only teams to be able to purchase top (not World) class English players (A.Cole, J. Cole, F. Lampard, S. Sidwell, SWP, R. Ferdind, W. Rooney, O. Hardgreaves, and Catterick) Under Blatters scheme the remainder would have to play inferior English player at high cost against Foriegn imports at low cost. D. Bent 16-5M, V. Persie 3.8M need I say more???
limit number of players ,keep cost down, give more lads from this country top flight football to build a better england team, simple as that! oh and to qualify to be ENGLAND manager he should also be ENGLISH
yes too many in our league get rid of scots welsh and irish as well not just the europeans
why wait till then, dont forget England won world cup in1966 no foreign player then in league,so what it prem standards drop may be prices will drop also
