Sepp Blatter is confident that the number of foreign players in a club side can be reduced to seven in time for the 2010-11 season.
The Fifa president pointed to the Premier League's dominance in this season's Champions League as a reason why his organisation must implement the idea, despite legal concerns from the EU and Uefa president Michel Platini.
Stressing that Fifa would proceed "within the limits of the law", Blatter said: "It is to make sure that there is better balance in the competitions and not only three or four teams in a league of 18 or 20 are fighting to be the champion and all the others are just there to not be relegated."
Do you agree with this move?
WE Won THE WORLD CUP onCE USING A SYSTEM THAT SUITED THE ENGLISH GAME, AND ENGLISH PLAYERS OF THE ERA. THE GERMANS HAVE ALWAYS DonE THIS WITH A LOT OF GOOD RESULTS. IF YOU ARE HAVING A BAD GAME THE SYSTEM WILL GET YOU OUT OF TROUBLE. YOU DonT HAVE TO GO POUNDING DOWN THE WING WITH YOUR HEAD DOWN,KEEP THE BALL OFF THE OPPOSITIon AND THEY CANT SCORE.IF YOU WANT TO BE AN ENTERTAINER JOIN A CIRCUS. WE WILL NEVER WIN A THING IF WE ALLOW FOREIGN MENTALITY TO TAKE OVER OUR NATIonAL ABILITY OF ORGANISED FOOTBALL AT A SLOWER PACE. LET OTHERS ENTERTAIN JUST SO LonG AS WE WIN THE WORLD CUP NEXT TIME ROUND. BETTER TO WIN onE NILL THAN LOSE FOUR THREE.
About time this was outlined by an FA official and noted. I think all proper football supporters would like to see this change. I know academy players who would be good enough to play in the top flite but are overlooked because our capable players get pushed out and to the lower leagues which makes it harder for academy players to break through, so then the national side suffers to the point where English football standard will drop to the level of Trinidad and Tobago!!!!
i run a local football team, Grass roots, young english kids with so much talent just waiting to be given that one chance. But they are being over run by foreign kids.especally African lads, who are bigger, faster and can be developed into the way a football club want's them to be.I run a multi national team so I have no favorites, the English lads are very good , a scout comes to watch the team and basically say oh he's local he can wait while they give a trial to the foreign lad (so the English kids get down hearted).
So it is alright Blatter saying only only seven players to each club, but this has to work right through the acadamies to the young kids if we are to get young English players coming through the ranks.only then will England be a force.
i agree fully with the proposal for quotas due to it will level out the chances of winning the league for other clubs and end the run of the top four who wont be able to buy there way to the top
I support Rangers we have about 9 scots who start got us to final if Ufea cup so it wouldnt worry us, it would worry most English teams tho as they just cant find home grown talent!
