After a brilliant century, how much of a difference has captain Kevin Pietersen made? Are England now on course for a crushing victory?
KP is a good attacking batsman, but i reckon Strauss would have been a better choice as a captain for the longer format of the game.
The bowling attack other than Freddie was nothing but absolutely toothless and was really mediocre from England. KPis the mainstay. Full credit to Paul Collingwood for his impressive batting display. Though the next match is a dead rubber, but one cant take the Proteas lightly. England gotta pull up their socks.
Kevin Pietersen plays for himself, not the team - he will not make a good captain. Andrew Strauss relished the chance he was given - he did well and it did not affect his batting. He should have been appointed. I'm sorry Paul Collingwood decided to give up the one-day captaincy, but I can understand why. I only hope he is still in all 3 teams, because he is one of the few real team men with a fantastic fighting spirit, unlike some of the whimps we've got in the team. I also hope that the selectors will allow the captain less influence over team choice in future. Vaughan may be hailed as a great captain for winning the ashes, but it was a depleted Aussie team, and far too often in his tenure our team was bogged down with the captain's buddies. Ravi Bopara deserves his test chance, as do the others chosen for the other squads - not least Matt Prior - so glad to see him back and he should really be back in the test side too - Ambrose is a waste of space!
kp needs to mature a bit more,a rush the head dosent always work, should have been andrew strauss
How sad that the South Africa cricket captain led his team to a dishonourable win in the third test by not walking when he clearly knew that the ball had hit his glove and went for a catch. The umpire is obviously not fit nor qualified to be a county umpire let alone a test umpire having not spotted this blatant error and should be removed from the list. It would have been better for the game if players were reminded of the code, 'Better to lose honourably than to win dishonourably ' as South Africa did but cheating seems to be a big part of sport today. That's what money does to people. Very sad.
