What do you think about convicted criminals winning lottery money?

Habitual petty criminal Michael Carroll was one of the most famous convicts to win millions on the lottery. Do you think there should be some screening of lotto winners? Should criminals be made to give some of their winnings to victims of their crimes? Or is a winner a winner, regardless of their lifestyle?

what about unconvicted ones? The point of a lottery is that anyone can play a stake and the winner is picked at random. If you don't like the winner tough!
Our lottery doesn't work like that though apparently to assauge their delicate consciences they have to vote on good causes

like someone else has said if you paid the money for your numbers and then your numbers come up then you should be entitled to the money, nothing to do with anyone else, better to win it than to rob it!!

if youre numbers come up then you should be entitled to the money. Thats the way the lotteries are run. No matter who you are. However if you are a thug, lout, criminal all the people that suffered because of there choice in lifestyle should also benefit and should be due compensation from their winnings by law. Because they shouldn't be entitled to a life of luxury when they have ruined other peoples lives.

if there was an act that didnt allow people with a criminal record to play the lottery then it wouldnt just be people who continuously commit crimes it would be people who may have a criminal record that reflects a crime commited a longg time ago that was maybe a mistake. It would have a serious affect on society you cant punish people for spending money on what you dont agree with. If you have that much faith in the justice system then surely if the person with all the money was that much of a criminal then they would be punished for it?? Wouldnt they~??? Maybe the government should think of ways of re-educating lottery winners who come from a criminal background let them see how they could use their money productively??
