Big Brother - Should the police be able to demand ID anytime?

Police and immigration officers will be able to stop anyone and demand proof of identity under proposed new powers to be announced. Anybody who refuses the Big Brother demand could face arrest and a possible prison sentence. The move would effectively take Britain back to the Second World War, when people were stopped and asked to 'show their papers'. What do you think? Should the police be able to demand ID anytime?

A lot of problems in our society could be cured with people not being able to hide, I'd be all for figerprinting and DNA registers for everyone living in the uk.

It will be people who don't look too threatening who'll be challenged. This government seem a bit too keen on criminalising people.

Like Ian Brown said "ID cards ain't gonna stop no hijacked jet". ID cards won't change crime rates at all, maybe increase them since the symbolism will be more sought in that it would be nothing but a more solid tool for ID fraud.
