Police and immigration officers will be able to stop anyone and demand proof of identity under proposed new powers to be announced. Anybody who refuses the Big Brother demand could face arrest and a possible prison sentence. The move would effectively take Britain back to the Second World War, when people were stopped and asked to 'show their papers'. What do you think? Should the police be able to demand ID anytime?
Do all the people who say bring it on ,"nothing to hide mob " know what s going on these I.D. cards ? or what might be .maybe ,convictions ,gay or lesbian ,religion ,ever been in rehab ,and a host of things you believe at the moment to be private . Don T FORGET NEW LABOUR WILL LOSE THE DATA ! .
I AGREE ,ME FROM HERE,,,,,,, IF THESE THINGS ARE BEING FORCED on US , THEY CAN'T ASK FOR PAYMENT
The police have far too much power already, ID cards and the like are just further means of control and to add insult to injury we are expected to pay for the privilage....
If your legal innocent and genuine what have you to hide ???? Im all for it,
Dam good idea !!!! shame its taken so long to be put into practise, If your a genuine law abideing citizen then you have nothing to fear (apart fro ID theft) But if we all have ID cards it would make the polices jobs so much easier and free them up so much more to get on with the real jobs they are employed to do, No more false names and addresses so you can evade prosecution !!!! No more illegal imigrants pretending not to understand and then dissapearing back into the woodwork !!!! Im all for it 100% The next step is for us to be able to use these ID cards in much the same way as we use cashpoint cards to give whatever goverment that is in power our choice and feelings about whatever policies they wish to bestow upon us without our consultation, Then maybe they will understand the meaning of the word DEMOCRACY !!! instead of them dictating to us what they are going to do for our best interests.
