Smoking ban debate

Smoking ban debate

The ban on smoking in public places, which came into effect in England on 1st July 2007, has been a complete success, with 400,000 people kicking the habit in the last twelve months, according to a survey by Cancer Research UK. Do you agree that the ban has been successful?

    Heres a poser for you.
Three men go to their respective garages to commit suicide. one closes the garage door jumps into his car and starts the engine and leaves it running.
The other closes the door and opens a case of vodka and proceeds to drink the bottles one after the other.
The last man has an endless supply of embassy regals and decides hes going to smoke himself to death.
Which man will die in minutes? Which man will die in hours? and which man will probably survive for fifty years or more?
My point is that the actual dangers to non-smokers from 'passive' smoking if ANY are minimal.

400,000 How did they arrive at that figure? plucked out the air.
The smoking ban was never put to the public vote as they couldnt trust the electorate to give them the result they wanted. Same goes for Europe and thats why there will never be a referendum. How many pubs have closed down your way in last year or so? These places all managed (if only just) to stay in business before the ban therefore its no co-incidence, the ban was the final nail. And for all these people who say that business is better post-ban, BULL#HIT. 'Your' pub might be busy on a Saturday night when you're there but these businesses cant survive on one days trade.
