The ban on smoking in public places, which came into effect in England on 1st July 2007, has been a complete success, with 400,000 people kicking the habit in the last twelve months, according to a survey by Cancer Research UK. Do you agree that the ban has been successful?
dave from notts are the fairys at the bottom of your garden as well,36 pubs a week are closing, brewery losses at the highest for 60 years, jobs being lost,go to Germany,Spain,USA,France,Italy, and many more who have overturned the smoking ban.
FREEDOM OF CHOICE
Just been on a flying visit to France, Belgium and Germany in a small 2-seater 'plane with a friend. Hotel and Bar at Gefrath, Germany - ashtrays on bar and in all rooms. Smoke if you want to, if not, don't. Hotel in Arlsberg, Germany - ditto.
Weather pushed us back into Antwerp to overnight - guess what, ashtrays in all rooms for your individual freedom to choose to smoke, no smoking in public areas - absolutely fine.
Over there they apply the Law as it was meant to be - public and eating areas no smoking but when you pay for a hotel room, it is your home for the night and you can do what you like there within the Law.
We are crippled by a bunch of lousy no-hopers with nothing better to do than make life as miserable as they can for everyone - and I am not just talking about smoking. Personally I don't but I do so hate the health freaks, many of whom strangely drop dead whilst out running and jumping. That's life!
spot on mr puff to many do gooders
to casper.
there's no such thing as passive alcoholism, idiot. think before you speak.
Idin't know where in Scotland fag ash lil smoked herself into a stupor but I think it must have been coocoo land. There are no establishments where you are allowed to smoke in public Even the bus shelters are non smoking, and it's an offence if you don't tell a smoker to put thier fag out. I think it must have been on one of the Islands, just don't tell anyone.
