The body of a pensioner may have lain undiscovered for five years in an Edinburgh city centre flat
what a sad example of how we care for our seniors here in uk,they are either put in homes or forgotten about, how different to when I was a child and grandparents came to live with the family when on their own, people cared more then, although in a lot of Europe there are often different generations in one house.
This shows how little we as a country care for our elderly. It goes without saying that as we become older we become frail and need help. Regular check ups for the vulnerable should be compulsory and there should be a health worker monitoring if people fail to attend. We as a community should be more aware of those who live amongst us and be brave enough to knock and ask if they need help ect. It should also become the norm in our minds to enquire as to the welfare of those whom seem to disappear. It is disgusting that those who lived nearby didn't care enough to ask!
How heartless! you can bet that so called family come out of the woodwork now - especially with the 5 year pension arrea rs pending that can amount to a potentially tidy sum - perhaps £60-70,0000 or more!
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME ANY OF HER FAMILY CALLED on HER.NOT FOR OVER 5 YRS , I HOPE THEY ARE SUITABLY ASHAMED
Maybe she had no family.
