   Yep, Swine Flu is real, and fairly nasty, and it will probably get a lot worse before it gets better. It will kill people, older ones, weaker ones, those with severe chest infections and some ( a very few) who seem to be perfectly healthy, but we can't run and we can't hide. We can fight back with vaccine and antivirals, but for 99.9% of those who catch it, it will be nothing worse than a few days of misery, a week or two off work, and then a few weeks more getting back to strength. Stuff like this happens.. we live in a world which is increasingly full of hazzards we have made for ourselves. Worldwide travel means diseases can jump from place to place far faster than ever before, but advanced medicine and an understanding of disease processes makes us far less likely to succumb.
   In 1918 nearly 40 million people died of flu, out of a world population of 2 billion. An outbreak as severe as that would now kill 120 million. So far Swine flu has killed less than a thousand. ..... Dangerous it is, devastating, reason to disrupt the way we live and work, it isn't.

   This flu is rapidly spreading around our schools with young children being most susceptible, but local authorities are not doing enough to keep parents informed. It is nearly the end of this academic year and think they should close our schools early as a precaution to safeguard our children until a vaccine is made available in august when they return.

   one death is too many and there is no reassurance about the mortality rate and seems to be a guessing game that as a concerned parent I don't want to play due to having little faith in officials.

   Like me please start pressuring the authorities to take action now before it is widespread and transmission is uncontrollable amongst our kids.

   look im getting as barmy as you lot, all this animal flu ect, isnt it just the govt wanting us all to become vegans? weve had bird/hen flu, and mad cow then scrabbies in sheep now pig flu, of course they could try the same with fish that being an animal of sorts, i'll stick with me black puddings and tripe.

   Cynical polititians can't wait for the winter cull of our old folk
   no one is being dianosed or tested here and the vacine /tamiflu is already hard to get (stockpiled my ass!). I bet the cabinet have stockplies PUT LOTTERY MonEY into NHS NOW stop ticking boxes ,paying compensation ,and expensive top heavy management.
