Shadow chancellor George Osborne will be investigated by a sleaze watchdog over his second home allowance claims
If the original complaint is correct - That he flipped his homes so that he could claim expenses on his second home - Then rules or no rules this must be for deliberate benefit.
This is an absolute blatant disgrace - He should be Ashamed !!!
TED THE part of the bill you are talking about. The defeat of 3 votes was mainly to do with tbe bill of rights of the 1600’s where no outside body could intervere with parliament. Clause 10 I think it was. It was badly drafted and the same bill of rights protect us. So even tho I hate the tory mind set,, in this they were right. The main bill has gone to the house of lords so will pass. Those 3 votes were a tory win.
By way of response to Julie of Nottingham. I concur with the principle that everyone irrespective of partisan politics, should be regarded as innocent until proven guilty. It remains to be seen whether the allegations can be substantiated or not? I would not presume to know the precise details, but would second guess that the anomaly that has arisen amounts to nothing more sinister than a mere oversight. A man of considerable wealth ,would hardly need to add to his fortunes by less honourable means than claiming the allowances to which he is justifiably entitled. Frankly I don't know what the fuss is all about, we have the most honourable politicians of any country in the civilised world - Mssrs. Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Mandelson, Cameron, to name but a few - not to overlook liberals like Lord/s Steele and Ashdown, each of whom have given selfless contibutions to the honesty and integrity of British politics as we know it today!
