   George, I agree with everything you say, it is our own fault. Alex Salmond is playing a blinder. As you said, the majority of Scots know where their bread is buttered and will not vote for Independence. Salmond uses this threat to get more money out of the Scottish Government at Westminster, and if Brown refuses he will alienate the Scottish labour voters in Scotland. The SNP came to power in Scotland with only 17% of those eligible to vote.

   Grubber, the problem is that the Scots run the uk and have their own National party to take care of Scotland. So in the general elections., they vote Labour to run Westminster. England is of little Interest to our Scottish masters.. The word England is rarely used even, what we hear is Britain when the appropriate word should be England.The Scots will never vote for independence.After all it would be rather like turkeys voting for Christmas.
   This state of affairs prevails because evidently the English have little interest in politics and we have only ourselves to blame and I believe that nothing is going to change even if the government changes at the next election,which is doubtful.The English ,therefore are unable to influence events now or in the future. I wish to make it clear that I have no axe to grind against our Scottish brothers and sisters.The present state of affairs is a result of our own inertia.
