    every year its the same
The Royals do not cost us anything. The money from the civil list comes from the crown estates. The govt makes approx 150 million pound profit out of the royals. None of our taxes go towards them directly.

Some people are perhaps not totally aware of the facts, so it's not surprising they are arriving at uninformed opinions. If I can repost, 'cece from west midlands, june 30, 14:40' :I would like to bring the following little known fact to everyone's attention :
In 1760, George III reached an agreement with the Government over the Crown Estate. The Crown Lands would be managed on behalf of the Government and the surplus revenue would go to the Treasury. In return, the King would receive a fixed annual payment, which we call today the Civil List.
In 2006-2007 the revenue surplus received by the Treasury from the Crown Estates was £200 million. Since 2001, The Queen receives a set amount of £7.9 million per annum.
For those of you who can't do the maths, this means that the monarch only "gets back " less than 4% of what is given to the Treasury !!
The British press, for some reason, never mention this fact when implying that us poor tax paying peasants are being 'charged' for the monarchy. Wonder why?' Well put cece, that should help people to make a more informed opinion.

£0.69! I would gladly pay ten times that to keep the "working"royals. The minor grandkids can fend for themselves.
I would charge those MSPs who did not turn up at Holyrood, ten times my ten times!
