John Sergeant has left Strictly Come Dancing saying he wanted to avoid a "bloody battle"
Who cares? Programmes crap.
It would be great to have seen John making the same effort as others. The appeal of this show is the way people put themselves on the line to learn a new skill, risking public humiliation. John's diffidence is funny in the short term but isn't it close to arrogance? He was an unlikely winner - the public always vote for the best dancer in the end. Maybe he pulled out rather than having to face exposure and negative comment, but isn't this just a celebrity trying to exercise control?
The Judges were right John should have gone week 1. Its supposed to be a dancing competition
The judges are there to judge the dancing and that is what they do. Sometimes the way they give their opinion is a bit rough but regardless of how nice a person John is, I was horrified when better dancers were sent packing. It was not too bad until the week that Sherry went. Up to then the folk who went would not have made it to the final anyhow but Sherry may have. So I felt it was time for John to go. He realised this even if the voting public did not. He did the right thing. GO FOR IT CHRISTINE.
Ron (21.26): Nice bit of self-contradiction there!
