Providers back net piracy crackdown

Britain's six biggest internet service providers have signed up to a government-backed drive to clamp down on illegal downloading of music and films. As part of the clampdown, parents whose children are involved in internet piracy could be blacklisted and have their internet service cut off. Do you agree with these measures?

not sure what speed the other service provifders offer outside the top six but they must be rubbing there hands together the music industry is saying it could lose up to £1 billion over the next five year if you ask me the top six internet providers will lose much more than that people will just swop to the other providers or stop downloading and go for a much slower speed

Here we go on again !!! the goverment and there bright ideas !!!
The goverment wont pump money into housing problems and many others but they soon think that this idea of combating fraud and copyright infringements is a very good idea and already have the wheels in motion !!!
Dunno about everyone else but wouldnt it be easy if the goverment printed some pamflets telling us what we can do as it wouldnt cost em that much as it would look more like a god damn leaflet...
    Cheers !!!

I though I had heard it all but obviously not. Most of the internet users would be blacklisted and the companies will lose money. Most people download to their IPOD's etc not to sell for a profit. As usual common sense is out of the window

Yet again our government are taking the piss. Some people download music, movies ect and some people may sell the copies they downloaded. Cannot imagine why with fuel, heating bills and genaral cost of living rising all the time. As for Virgin Media what are they going to do? ban everybody involved in illegal downloading! go ahead because your internet service is a big part in Virgin Media and you simply will not survive. Gordon Brown should maybe start clamping down on proper issues like crime, rising living costs and many more things before he even thinks about illegal downloaders.
As for the movie and music industries they ripped us all of for years with overpricing to begin with. Same old story the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
