Providers back net piracy crackdown

Britain's six biggest internet service providers have signed up to a government-backed drive to clamp down on illegal downloading of music and films. As part of the clampdown, parents whose children are involved in internet piracy could be blacklisted and have their internet service cut off. Do you agree with these measures?

Companies should come into the 21st century , it is only within the last 100 years people have paid to own music in such a manner, and more money is made than ever before in the music industry, so why must the public pay the price for the technology. Sony develops mp3 players yet Sony bmg denounce the sharing of music online! Plus downloading is not technically stealing as the host still owns the original copy! It is impossible to stop the sharing of files so all of this is in vein anyway!

It's a joke, We live in a country were everything is over-priced, CD's Are stupid amount of money, Now they wan't to monitor our Computers? Privacy please?
Obviously, These Networks can't respect our Privacy if they wish to Dial into our computers. This will cost Virgin-Media alot of money in staff to look at this, Maybe get more value for money otherwise i think you'll loose alot of Customers, Everything has boom'ed up in price and you wonder why people Download?
If CD's / Tracks were cheaper maybe not everyone would download how about look at the prices in europe then the Prices in the uk and see the difference... That will tell you our story.

I pay Virgin Media to provide me with an internet connection not to monitor what I'm doing. Most people download a few song for use on their MP3 or ipod. With the price of cds why buy the whole thing when you can download just the tracks you like. Of course the other alternative is for a group of people to club together buy one cd then copy it. I mean it's not as if all these singers, muscians and actors are exactly hard up unlike the poor old fans. Come on Virgin provide the service you're being paid for and let us occassional downloaders quietly get on with grabbing a few songs now and again.

have they ever heard of infringment of the freedom of information.how can they possibly tell what you are downloading? there will always be ways around it. people will figure it out. virgin should concentrate more on giving people value for money and not capping downloading, a bit hippocritical, seen as we dont then actually pay for the speed we expect. we should all stop downloading stuff, but then again why are we one of the most taxed countries in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!! give us a break gordon, we all work to pay for your taxes, there is no luxury in living these days
