A judge has attacked a bizarre trend in New Zealand for giving children strange names as he made a nine-year-old called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii a ward of court so that she can change her name and put an end to playground taunts. Some examples of names given to children in New Zealand include Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Stallion, Twisty Poi, Sex Fruit, and Benson and Hedges (for twins).
Do you think it is a form of abuse to give your child a bizarre name? Do you know someone with a strange moniker? Share your thoughts.
to "erin", how would you like it if your parents had named you SEX FRUIT too. you stupid cow, every one who calls their kids pathetic stupid names should have their kids removed from them. they are not fit to be called parents
i think the judge was correct in allowing this child to change her name. If a name invites trouble and /or unmanagable amounts of ridicule then why shouldn't a judge put that person in a position to better their their situation?
whats it got to do with judge fudge what people call their children .He should stick to giving criminals proper sentences instead of faffing around with trivia
Gooday! (do they say that in New Zealand....?)
I luv me name an don wann nebod 2 change it for nuffink.I fink that my name is ded smart for a classy gal likes me.Yeah really.I really wanted to be called Apple orPeaches or Pineapple.judges should do the right thing like dealing with criminals and not nonsense like this.
