A judge has attacked a bizarre trend in New Zealand for giving children strange names as he made a nine-year-old called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii a ward of court so that she can change her name and put an end to playground taunts. Some examples of names given to children in New Zealand include Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Stallion, Twisty Poi, Sex Fruit, and Benson and Hedges (for twins).
Do you think it is a form of abuse to give your child a bizarre name? Do you know someone with a strange moniker? Share your thoughts.
one mans bizarre is another normal , my name is considered bizarre and people spend a lot time deliberatly misprouncing my surname to make a rude word I either ignore them or point out the problem is theirs any name and be made fun of . people soon stop if you don react
Both my wife, CD Cabinet Henderson - Smythe Grollobeaton and myself think that it is totally deplorable to give your children stupid names. Also my dog, 27inch flat screen monitor- rex and my 2 year old daughter, one Alice Ping Zebra Stripe Bikini - Grolobeaton agree.
Endos.
I can't see what all the fuss is about.
All names have to be registered and birth certificates issued.,Perhaps Registrars need a bit of guidance or commonsense, It has absolutely nothing to do with judges. Anyone can alter their names provided it is not done for illegal purposes. . Where is the problem?
ITS SO PATHETIC TO GIVE YOUR KID SILLY NAMES,,,,,,WHATS EVEN MORE SAD AND PATHETIC IS THE ORDINARY PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO NAME THEIR KIDS AFTER CELEBRITIES WITH STUPID NAMES,,SADDO,S,,,,,,,
