A judge has attacked a bizarre trend in New Zealand for giving children strange names as he made a nine-year-old called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii a ward of court so that she can change her name and put an end to playground taunts. Some examples of names given to children in New Zealand include Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Stallion, Twisty Poi, Sex Fruit, and Benson and Hedges (for twins).
Do you think it is a form of abuse to give your child a bizarre name? Do you know someone with a strange moniker? Share your thoughts.
carefull we may end up with our childrens names being taxed too
I think the judge was right what a stupid name, I have old fashoined names for my children Victoria, Rebecca and Jonathan, but all shorten their names has they have grown up to Vicky, Becks and Jon. stick to normal names
My child has no problems with his first name. He is called David.
My surname, however, is Cock.
I am appalled by bizzare children's names, I gave my lads simple names like Mike Hunt and Eric Hunt. Just as my partner Pam Mycock did when she called her son Aaron.
eeeh...can't see all the fuss, there were no problems with my kids: Lambrini Dukes and Chardonay Ebay
