A judge has attacked a bizarre trend in New Zealand for giving children strange names as he made a nine-year-old called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii a ward of court so that she can change her name and put an end to playground taunts. Some examples of names given to children in New Zealand include Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Stallion, Twisty Poi, Sex Fruit, and Benson and Hedges (for twins).
Do you think it is a form of abuse to give your child a bizarre name? Do you know someone with a strange moniker? Share your thoughts.
In french "Peter" means "to fart". I find it very hard to chat up french girls, they stink my name is funny. Having a small nob doesn't help, either.
I knew of a girl who named her daughter Treblinka- how cruel, the kid will run into people throughout her life who will ask ' why are you named after a Nazi extermination camp where jews were gassed.' The only possible answer being ' well, Mum thought it sounded nice.' Children SHOULD be protected from the lifelong shame of being branded for mockery by ignorant parents.
I think to give children these names is ridiculous and selfish towards the children. The parents are just thinking of them selves. My mam had a friend at school called Annette Kurton which is bad enough.
I AGREE WITH THE JUDGE NOWT AS QUEER AS PEOPLE I OFTEN WonDER WHICH PLANET THESE PEOPLE COME FROM WITH THE STRANGE NAMES THEY GIVE THEIR CHILDREN.
