A judge has attacked a bizarre trend in New Zealand for giving children strange names as he made a nine-year-old called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii a ward of court so that she can change her name and put an end to playground taunts. Some examples of names given to children in New Zealand include Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Stallion, Twisty Poi, Sex Fruit, and Benson and Hedges (for twins).
Do you think it is a form of abuse to give your child a bizarre name? Do you know someone with a strange moniker? Share your thoughts.
There are still Kylie,s and Jasons out there, wonder where their parents got the ideas for them from?.You have to feel sorry for kids when parents do this sort of thing, the ribbing and hassle it can cause during their school time for a start.A problem so easily avoided really.
GIving kids a how can i say a name with a difference whats so wrong with that as long as it doesnt border complete silliness why not
I just love those names that sound like you are clearing your throat; another one is names that sound like an obscure wood working tool or a firm of solicitors. Truth is the parents are the tools who saddle their children with ridicules names.
yes my parents had a sense of humour
I totally love my name, i am never forgotten and most people say how beautiful it is. So i would like to say a big thank you to my mum and dad.
