Should Des Browne resign over the sailors' stories row?

Defence Secretary Des Browne has taken the blame after two of the sailors captured by Iran sold their stories saying "ultimately, the buck stops here".

Conservative leader David Cameron has demanded an inquiry and Mr Browne himself has said, "clearly with hindsight I could have made a different decision".

Should Des Browne resign over the decision to allow the sailors to sell their stories? Do you agree with the angry backlash that has greeted the publication and broadcast of the accounts? Do the sailors have every right to profit from their captivity or does it set a dangerous precedent? Let us know what you think.

These people who put their lives on the line for our country and deserve better rewards, if they receive payment for a story then so be it after all the papers are usually filled with lies, lets have some truth and let the powers that be understand the terror behind the decisions that they make. after all they created this whole mess and if the forces can make extra for there efforts to make there lives better I say good on them.

If, as they tell us, that these sailors and marines were in Iraqi waters and this could be proved, why did they allow themselves to taken so easily? I take it they were all armed, as all boarding parties should be, so why weren't there any shots fired? It makes me ashamed to say that I spent twenty three years in the Navy. As to whether Des Browne should resign, of course he should, and the rest of odious, reprehensible and corrupt shower that are passing themselves off as a government should go with him.

When the man in charge has no idea what is going on you have real problems. What sort of message does this send out to all our lads and lasses in the midddle east and around the world? Perhaps Mr Browne
should consider this and then do the honourable thing and go. The only problem is who's next to administer tony and Georges war???

Let us get rid of newspaper editors and then the celebrity culture that encourages story telling. The BBC and ITV should also be culled.
