Yes your correction of Ray's "mith" actually bears significant resemblance to the central theme of Mozart's concerto in E#. The story is that Wolfgang actually found several notes between E and F, however the timbre and resonance of all the notes, bar E#, were very unstable and caused the listeners to become dizzy and disoriented. This piece of music (now banned) eventually led to the fall of the Prussian Empire. The concerto was mistakenly played as soldiers marched out on to the field of battle and given that the interval between E and F is a semi-tone, the notes between E and F (actually quarter tones) caused the soldiers to march out of n-sync with each other causing all manner of terrible puns and other such injuries...
