Between 1960 and 1963 the charts were dominated by middle of the road crooning purveyed by jumper-wearing men like Pat Boone, Perry Como and Bobby Vinton and light jazz for cocktail parties. Elvis had sold his soul to Hollywood and the most dangerous artist of the era was Cliff Richard. The Beatles changed everything, of course, but at least one-third of the decade’s music is utter pish.

4o plus yrs on we still debate the 60s, That should tell anyone with an ounce of sense, Note i said ounce not gramm. Not going metric, That it was the most influentual decade ever.
