It didn’t even begin until 1963

Between 1960 and 1963 the charts were dominated by middle of the road crooning purveyed by jumper-wearing men like Pat Boone, Perry Como and Bobby Vinton and light jazz for cocktail parties. Elvis had sold his soul to Hollywood and the most dangerous artist of the era was Cliff Richard. The Beatles changed everything, of course, but at least one-third of the decade’s music is utter pish.

I am totally insulted - I pay good money to subscribe to Virgin and then you post this utter garbage of a "review". Did this ignorant fool get paid for writing such utter drivel? The person has very low (miniscule knowledge of music, 60's etc otherwise the comments would not be so inane. Youth culture has a complete refresh every few years and each time takes a portion of the ones before it - music / fashions constantly reflect back - just look around to see/hear the influence of the 60's today. Many modern bands pay tribute to the 60's and cite the bands of that era as their inspiration. No one generation from any era can be written off by one sweep of the brush. SO lets have less of this person's opinion - it's completely misinformed / pathetic / insulting and a complete waste of space.
PS the answer to your question? - No - 60's music is not overrated - far from it - it sits very well with todays music - I know, I lived through it and still listen to a good mix of modern and old. Music that lasts for 40+ years can't be that bad.
