With high-street heavyweights Asda and Tesco announcing that they are to withdraw the sale of CD singles due to a dwindling market and the increasing popularity of downloads, do you think the format has had its day? Do you still buy CD singles? Are they over-priced and ecologically wasteful, or a cherished part of popular music culture?
I still buy them, they are good for extra tracks and remixes. I don't bother with downloading, its too technical for me!
yeah they are bit pointless now. i mean who pays for music anymore? let's be honest. even the ones that do, it's more convenient to download in this lazy age. :)
Steve from Washington says:
Couldnt care less. I play vinyl, and my system plays vinyl better than all but the most extreme top end cd systems can.
what 78's?
YEAH CD SINGLES CAN BE USED ON MY DUAL DECK AND IS CONVENIENT WITH LOADS OF MIXES BUT I STILL LIKE TO USE VINYL AS WELL -
I find it unfair to stop them. There is nothing wrong with them. I buy singles for the remixes or live tracks and it's nasty to force people to download if they don't own a compueter who don't have the internet. I've been looking for singles in Asda the other week and i couldn't find any so i ased someone who workes there if they still had a single's chart and they said 'no'. It's unfair to stop selling them. If they want people to down load they shouldn't have to pay for it!
