Noel Gallagher has slated the inclusion of hip hop at this year's Glastonbury Festival, blaming it for an apparent slump in ticket sales. "If it ain't broke don't fix it", Gallagher explained, adding: "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
Do you agree with Noel? Does hip hop have a place on Glastonbury's line-up, and is a headline appearance from Jay-Z responsible for slow ticket sales?
if it cant be performed live (musicians playing instruments. the inevibilty of a cock up and being spontanious, then no.
look at uSHER at Rafio1 BWE, Madonn sometime. Nelly at V-FEST or whatever lol
JIMI HEBDRIX was the ultermate at combining styles at pioneering psychedic rock
Jaaay-Z (like the rest) plays it safe

mike e's a knob for snubbin pink floyd for some boring old cred x
i dont think hip hop id write for glastonbury
oasis played the same year as beasty boys what a short memory noel has
broadening peoples tastes is a good thing glasto fans were once a lot more accepting if they give it a chance they might enjoy it without hip hop you wouldnt have bands such as rage against the machine(who have played glasto), gorrilaz, beasty boys(who have played glasto), linkin park(although they are rubish), and many more rock and indie bands that will reference hip hop groups as insperation. GIVE IT A GO.
i think it would have been better to start them off with a group like public enemy though.
THE REAL EVIL THIS YEAR IS THAT BLUNT CRAP!
I don't think most hip-hop fans have a clue where Glastonbury is.This attempt at commercialising the festival is backfiring and despite a smaller crowd they'll be more arrests and trouble than ever before.
