Is hip hop "wrong" for Glastonbury?

Is hip hop

Noel Gallagher has slated the inclusion of hip hop at this year's Glastonbury Festival, blaming it for an apparent slump in ticket sales. "If it ain't broke don't fix it", Gallagher explained, adding: "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

Do you agree with Noel? Does hip hop have a place on Glastonbury's line-up, and is a headline appearance from Jay-Z responsible for slow ticket sales?

Glastonbury is not simply a stage and a tent....things have moved on and zenophobia in music is so last century! Music is beyond partitioning and only the fearful erect cages to ghosts of yester year.
Rock is a black genre beloved of non-blacks and increasingly moving towards being reclaimed by blacks alike. So whose got a problem with it?! Hip hop is part of the continuum of popular music post 50's...and jammed alongside many a beloved rock band enlivening the 'soul' of the truly fab Glastonbury music evolution experience.
    Rock on hip-hoppers!!!

I was interested to hear Jay Z tell us 'hip-hop is still evolving'. I wonder when it will be ready for grown-ups?

Along with the Traditional genres we all accociate something querky with Glastonbury.Witnessing great acts from the Rave, Dance, D&B and Trance genre's. But Hip-Hop?? Come on, I can't help but be somewhat bemused!!
Glastonbury is not known to be a Hip-Hop/Rap festival. So the decision from the organisers to "change from a white, guitar based music" is just absurd and stinks of political correctness seeping into what should be a political free zone!
This whole objection to Jay-z playing the festival will probably be turned into a Race issue. With people, black and white rushing to pull the Race card. But his isn't a Race issue either.
Hip-Hop just DOES NOT BELonG AT Glastonbury. I'm Sorry but it just doesn't.
I have no shame in saying that I think the Festival has been spoilt, and probably will have been forever.
How can a so called successful event (if you can call a an event that hasnt sold out successful?) be a good platform to base the up'n'coming future Glastonbury festivals?
The festival line-up is the weakest ive seen for possibly 10 or so years! Normally Im staying up until early hours watching live performances and catching up on highlights. However this year all I have been drawn to is Editors and Panic at the disco.
An award should go to Michael Eavis for lame excuse:
"the festvial hasnt sold out because of previous Glastonbury mud"
    Joke!
