We crack Sherlock Holmes' code

We've received a nice little puzzle through the post – and have cracked a riddle devised for Sherlock Holmes.

The viral campaign for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie has begun, at least if the small riddle we received this morning is any indication. Comprising of two cards with wording on, they slot together neatly to reveal the following words: "Widen your gaze Mr. Holmes". Curious.

Donning our deerstalkers and puffing on our pipes, we went in for a closer look and saw small numbers printed above the words: 94, 236, 57 and 221. After much deducing, we realised it was elementary – they were an IP address. Punching these numbers into our browser took us to a mysterious website. Curiouser.

Said site required we enter a five character code, which stumped us at first. However, upon even closer inspection, we discovered five of the letters were embossed in silver: I, N, R, E and E. Juggling them around a little, and following the site's clue 'Find Her', we realised the code was 'IRENE' the name of Rachel McAdams character in the movie.

The resulting video message is rather eerie but does reel off several lines of dialogue that are loaded with mystery – we reckon there's more to this than meets the eye. Try it for yourself.

    This is totally amazing. I am so psyched for this. I love Guy ritchies other films and letting him lose in Victorian London is just going to be so cool. I have put my email into the viral site, has anyone heard anything back yet?

    The movie is based on a comic book about Sherlock Holmes called "The Return of the Devil". Not sure if that is the answer to the riddle or not.
