   Norwich union insura,where did you get your statistics from?Ok many of the 17 to 23 age group are involved in alot accidents,but drivers 55+ do cause many accidents,i always read in my local paper whenever there's a car crash there's always someone over 55 involved.My husband was nearly knocked off his bike by and elderly woman driver who did not look out for him on a roundabout and i nearly had the same with an old man who was driving and you reckon that 55+ are the safest drivers?Well only to themselves,but not to other road users,they should be off our roads! and same goes to anyone unqualified without a licence and insurance.

   According to stats, age group 17-23 are involved in most accidents, of these, 78% were blameworthy, 12% were UNLICENCED/unqualified drivers, 10% third parties.
   Of age Group 55+, just 8% overall were blameworthy.
   Insurance Group findings as at May 2008.

   They are the ones we are most likely to be driving amongst with when on holiday! Looking at the death rates of Polish drivers in the uk they come a close second.
