You may find yourself shouting at the idiot in front of you and wonder whether anyone else in Britain knows how to drive, but a recent poll of British tourists has found that the French are the worst drivers on this planet. Can this really be true? Tell us who you think are the world's lousiest motorists.
The French are one of the best drivers in the world, far better than the British. We have three and four lane motorways that can't cop with small amounts of traffic, because of middle lane hogger's. The french have two lanes and cop very well even in heavy traffic. If we drive like the French on our road system traffic would be a thing of the past.

Agree 100% with your comments, there should be in place a system for drivers to have a driving check up say every 5 or 10 years, LGV, PCV and some taxi drivers now have to have additional training every 5 years, or will have too from September to keep hold of their licences, this would be a good idea for ordinary drivers as well.
Best of luck safe driving don't let them wind you up.
the worst drivers are those who have bean caught speeding .and brake the law. Not the over 55
Insura from Norwich union, you say slow, but SAFE elderly drivers?only safe to themselves and not only that they pull out without even looking properly or indicate whenever needed, yes you are right about them never having much training and have been driving for 40 to 50 years, back in those days, there was hardly any traffic on the roads,(people either cycled or used public transport, many people could not afford a car unlike today, but the older driving generation should keep up with the times or get off the roads and it sounds like the insurance co's data records have their heads in the clouds, also many foreign drivers should get off our roads.

Sorry to disappoint you, the stats come from all Insurance co's data records, I can not say anymore.
The stats only give information as too who are actually involved in R.T.A's.
The record clearly shows that only 8% were at fault, therefore, these ppl inb this age group get the best insurance quotes.
Unfortunately, while I accept what you say, some of these drivers have not been trained to deal with todays standards, remember, some have been driving 40 or 50 years. (My grandad, learned to drive an army truck in 1940, his driving was SLOW, when came out he bought a car without anymore training but thank goodness he gave up in 2000).
There should be systems in place to update and check drivers every so often, until that happens, you, I, and everybody else is going to have to put up with slow but SAFE elderly drivers.
