Speed cameras on every street corner?

Speed cameras on every street corner?

Hundreds more speed cameras should be erected on street corners across the UK to enforce new 20mph speed limits, according to an influential government advisory group. Would this be a welcome move in residential areas, or would you oppose it?

I tend to drive according to road conditions, which often means I am driving at 20-25mph in housing estates regardless of the usual 30 mph speed limit. Unfortunately many of the new 20mph limits are unnecessary, as are many other speed limits. This tends to make drivers think all speed limits are wrong, and consequently they ignore them. However, the main consequence of 20 mph speed cameras on every street corner would result in drivers concentrating on their speedometers much more, and not on the main hazards on the road, eg kids running out in front of them, so when a kid is knocked down in the street, the honest answer from the driver would be, ' i didn't see him/her. beause i was watching my speedometer too much'.

When driving all your concentration should be on the road and hazards,
to continually monitor the speedometer is dangerous as your attention is not where it need to be.
Speed is placed in about 6th or 7 th place in the cause of accidents but is the only thing that can be measured so is the thing that is monitored by authorities as it is the easy option and gives the impression of them doing something.
Slow is not necessarily safer as concentration is liable to drop.
Speed should be related to the prevalent conditions and not to some mythical figure dreemed up by a anti car zealot.

Put a speed camera just after a 30 mph sign so you enter at the correct speed. Another place is both sides of the road just before a school. Then make good use of the money that has been got from those who speed.
