Are you worried by rising fuel costs?

Dozens of lorry drivers took to the streets this week in protest at record-high diesel prices, which have risen by 30 per cent over the last 12 months.

With oil Giants Shell and BP announcing huge profits in the first quarter, how can the high price of fuel be justified? Are the rising costs affecting you or your business? Is it enough to drive you off the road? Share your views.

Every time these guys protest, the petrol stations increase prices owing to a lack of supply and when it's over the prices remains the same. Last time fuel was 115.9 on average in my area for unleaded it is now 118.9 on average. The only people benefitting from these protests are the suppliers themselves and the only way to reduce the price is to reduce the demand. Each rise in the price means less money in my pocket so I would rather they did not protest in this way because it means disruption for the public who are not to blame, it cost us more in the long run and the people they are tyring to affect reap the benefit.

    HI ALL,
WE ALL COULD ConVERT OUR CARS TO PLG, BUT WOULD THAT MEEN MORE COSTS TO OUR SELVES AND THERE IS NOT ANY PETROL STATIonS NEAR ME THAT HAS IT. MAYBE IF THE GOVERNMENT GAVE GRANTS OUT TO PEOPLE TO DO THIS AND UPGRADED OUR PETROL STATIonS THEN WE MIGHT BE IN A CHANCE, NOT TO SURE HOW THE LGVs WOULD GET on,
PEOPLE SAY STOP MOANING BUT WHY SHOULD WE NOT HAVE OUR SAY THE CAR MAKERS COULD START SELLING LPG CARS BUT THEN THE GOVERNMENT WOULD BE DOWN IN A TAX PROFIT SO THEY WILL COME UP WITH SOMETHING ELSE I HAVE READ MANY on THIS COMMENT PAGE AND I AGREE STAND ALL TOGETHER AND SOMETHING CAN BE DOWN STANDING ALonE AND YOU ARE A GRAIN OF SAND IN A SAND PIT MEANS NOTHING......
    BYE ALL******

if you shop at tesco you probably have noticed the exhorbitant price increases throughout the stores . they tend to put things up by 20p to 50p this is not all to do with fuel prices as TESCO(THETFORD)has the dearest fuel price although they still have sign saying they sell cheap fuel (trade description).
also i had to give up a p/t job because it was costing me1/2 my wage to get there .now claiming social so at least the govt lose the taxes to this amount.

i drive a 4x4 ,i have been saving up for one for about 7 years, and now i have it, i will not give in ,i have made other changes in my life so i am able to afford the car, also it is handy in bad weather which we seem to have a lot of, having disabled parents i know i am able to get to them in all sorts of weather reason for choosing a 4x4 which can go off road if needed.
we live in a very small villlage, and some areas are terrible to get to in a normal car, i know i have tryed it for 15 years, the only answer was to get this big 4x4, with all the extras and travel comfort, i see it as i have worked hard for this car, so why should i not have a car i like and its so handy for me to use when needing to get to places in bad weather, i do recycle a lot of things, i would just like to say what about all the planes, that use our skys, and all the other forms of travel, the global warming issue, would of been started more so in the ages of the smog, cities / towns, when there was terrible pollution, which many of the older people, have stated to me, we all pay tax for this tax for that, i do not mind paying taxes for the emergancy services and for council services, but i can not see the piont keep paying high tax on fuel, i was told by someone that the tax payers pay a lot more in taxes to have the fuel than what it costs to buy the fuel, before it gets to our fuel pumps, IS THIS TRUE ?, i wonder what we will be made to pay tax on next ?, maybe to park your cars / walk the dogs / entrance tax into towns and cities, you could think of a hundred and 1 things that sound silly but, i am sure some one will think it sounds a good idea, after all if we pay all the this money out of our earnings , bills , finances , fuels , cars , and so on, should we all not have more of a say in to what the taxes can be used for i am sure i spaek for many on these issues. we are having to pay extra on the car tax disks now so why more ?, this i am not understanding, its like you have a big car you pay more in taxes. dont we pay enough, oh and no i do not agree with the rising costs of fuel, not much can we do but i just want people to see i am not one of the rate race that sit and say oh well never mind, carry on regardless, its about time we all pulled together and made a stand against alot of issues, that raise our eye brows, its not just the lorry drivers, (all drivers), it is every one that pays taxes, if we all stand our ground then there would be something done , but nothing can be done, if we stand alone on issues, many people have said to me i keep paying all these taxes but when are they going to put the wages level up to a good standard so many can come off the unemployment roll, and back into well paid jobs, and being paid what we all deserve. thanks for letting me have my say..........................
