Recent revelations that an unusually high percentage of all car accidents are involving those under 20 years old have reawakened calls to raise the driving test age from 17 to 18 and even higher. Is 17 old enough to be able to drive safely on the roads? Or would a change in the law help reduce the number of road accidents? Tell us what you think.
to mbnfrom the northeastcan you tet me the special ruels for the disabel people i am disabel my self but can not find out how togo about it
BB from uk are you serious? you want to give a learner driver who has just passed their test a 100 BHP car? you must be mad they should limit this even further, 56 BHP is plenty thats a 1400 petrol engine with a family sized car wrapped around it.
What happened to giving way to the right at a roundabout ? people are dicing with death every single day they just don't look right and plow on through foreign HGV's are more guilty than most at this one. and what is it with young women who insist on driving up your arse think if the car in front suffers a puncture and hits the brakes are you going to run into the back of them? you probably will. you know who you are and I hope you hospital food liquified.
Personally I believe they should add spacial awareness to the test.
everyone shoud steer their vechicle through some police cones which are placed deliberately close to the vechicle, they used to do this for part one of the bike test and how often do you see a bike parked three feet from the kerb? many car drivers now seem to need to drive down the center of the road when there is plenty of room for two vechicles this holds up traffic and exacerbates congestion particulary in built up areas. parking seems to be a real problem for some people who just can't get the hang of reversing into a space even if the space is big enough for two of their vechicles. If the driving age was rasied it might lower our insurance overall but would boy racers then become Man racers? some people have no spacial awareness no matter what age they start to drive so I guess changing the age at which you can learn to drive will make little or no difference to saftey on our roads, you will always get the show offs and those who want to soup up their vechicles, chip it, or add some extra brake horsepower. should the driving age be raised NO but the test should be more difficult and include ,more spacial awareness skills.
i passed my driving test at the age of 16 and a half due to the special ruels for disabled people. i personly feel it is only a minoraty of young drivers that act like ideots on the road and therefor couse all young drivers to be tainted with the same brush. i am now nearly 19 and i have receved no points and nether have i had any accidents.
