Recent revelations that an unusually high percentage of all car accidents are involving those under 20 years old have reawakened calls to raise the driving test age from 17 to 18 and even higher. Is 17 old enough to be able to drive safely on the roads? Or would a change in the law help reduce the number of road accidents? Tell us what you think.
i think you should be able to drive from 17 it doesnt matter what age you are but the person who is driving
once again,a minority of idiots, spoiling it for the majority,i think they should make driver training, part of the school lessons for 14 and over,i think catching them young would go some way to making a difference
no,In some USA states you can drive from the age of 13....where is th eproblem
" but the real driving comes from gaining the experience, over some years on the road." says kerry from cambridgshire. I see lots of drivers who have gained experience over some years and they are crap drivers, gaining the experience is only of benefit if it is good experience gained. Most drivers still do not know how to drive after many, many years of gaining the experience. I know lots of responsible 17 to 21 year olds more thancapable f driving safely. Changing the age of starting to drive is not the answer.
the driving age should be raised to 21 !! I dont doubt that people aged 17 have the ability to pass their test, but the real driving comes from gaining the experience, over some years on the road. A lot of growing up can be done from 17 too 21yrs, and I feel you approach driving with a different attitude.
