With news today that 71% of British employees travel to work by car, and that those in the north-west of England have the most dangerous journeys to work by road, we want to know about your commuting experiences. How long does it take you to get to work? What’s the worst experience you’ve had? Share your commuting nightmares.
I live 2 miles from my office, by car 5-10 minutes. By public transport my nearest bus stop is 5 mins, but the buses only run about every hour, so I walk 10 mins to a better route. 10 mins into town and a 20 min walk to the office. In all with wait times almost an hour. The cost by bus £2.20, parking £3 So why do I drive?????
UNDER 15 MINS IF NOT BUSY
Why are workers penalised for having a job, by not being able to buy a return ticket on a bus before 9am?
Surely the number of passengers would greatly increase if a (cheaper) return ticket was available during the rush hour.
I drive to work as it's cheaper and I don't have to stand up all the way, and
also, I cannot rely on the bus arriving on time, or arriving at all.
I am lucky enough to work from home and don't commute...it is so uncool nowadays to get stressed out in some queue of cars, jostling for position on the motorway etc. I think if they could be trusted, most office jobs could be done from home using PC's to send work in and video conferencing to have meetings etc
Travelled to an interview at Derby College once and the carriage I was in on the train had no working lights. There were a lot of tunnels, including some very long ones whilst going into Derby and the carriage was thrown into pitch blackness on a number of occassions...I couldn't see my hands in front of my face and the lack of that sense of sight was quite frightening. I took it as an omen and didn't study at Derby.
