Figures suggest that Britain is the Gatso capital of Europe, do you think that these cameras are just another way to cream money from motorists? Or are they a tool for preventing fatal road accidents? According to Swindon Borough Council, they may not be the best way to make roads safer. What do you think?
2from4 you are quite correct it is impact not speed that kills.
PLEASE REMEMBER whoever you are and whatever you drive - that it's not only high speed impacts that kill … An impact at any speed can kill.
Do I support the use of Gatso cameras? only in certain locations.
Jurgen from Liverpool I agree If you keep to the speed limit. theres no rip off. But you are incorrect when you say SPEED KILLS. This is a total myth. Because enough people believe the false propaganda, it allows
the money making cameras (they are not Safety Cameras) to be put up. The main reason for them is to collect a (stealth) tax, its a bit like tax on tobbacco, if you choose to smoke you pay more tax and there is a chance that Cancer may catch you. If you choose to speed theres a chance the camera will catch you and if it does you will pay more tax. The second reason is the cameras give the gullable public the impression that the Government is actually doing something for road safety.
I am not against cameras if they are located where it would be potentially dangerous to blatantly exceed the speed limit in force. Which they were originally for. That was before someone in the Cabinet saw how they could make easy money from them.
But speed in its self does not kill.
White Van Man 008 If you think you have, GOT NO FLAMIN CHOICE !!!!
You really need a reality check. Speeding is not going to get you there noticeably quicker, you are fooling yourself if you believe otherwise.
yes yes yes , how accurate are they ????
My biggest beef with cameras, is that they are very rarely installed in accident black spot areas - which of course are the ideal places to catch people who speed - because it IS dangerous. No they are installed on stretches of road where it is quite easy to stray over the legal limit (perfectly safely, but admittedly illegally) and you get a fine. To me they are purposely fitted in these places purely and simply to raise revenue - not prevent accidents at all, ie a stealth tax.
