Figures suggest that Britain is the Gatso capital of Europe, do you think that these cameras are just another way to cream money from motorists? Or are they a tool for preventing fatal road accidents? According to Swindon Borough Council, they may not be the best way to make roads safer. What do you think?
Bobby's helmet...
the damned things are evey where, and the limit on on wide open roads and dual carriage ways in most of luton is 30 mph......i have 6 points on my licence all for under 40 mph.......these things are a joke and an insult to the normal persons driving skills
If these cameras were installed outside schools, playgrounds, busy shopping areas etc I would agree with them 100%, I'd even support the introduction (and rigid enforcement) of 20mph zones in these areas.
The problem is that they are simply placed where they will make the most money, yet another 'tax' on the already overburdened motorist.
No body should be flashed by these camera's at all, afterall, if you pay attention you can see these things, YELLOW PAINTED boxes, if you can't see them you deserve everything you get, so get down to specsavers or keep to the limit and stop moaning.
Looking at the number of Police officers caught out by Gatso's its clear many are poorly sited ... or brilliantly sited for revenue!!! depending on your point of view! If the road has a 'black spot' re-engineer it, dont just put a camera up.
