Is 20mph too slow?

Portsmouth City Council is slashing the speed limit in residential areas from 30mph to 20mph and other councils are expected to follow suit. Will this save lives or is bureaucracy just killing motoring?

    you are so right!
"all the road improvements seem to favour the pedestrian has anyone else noticed this, perhaps they should teach these stupid people how to cross the road properly and then they would'nt get knocked down in the first place. i am a driving instructor and i notice daily how people walk out in front of learner drivers hoping they will stop, why walk out in front of a learner in the first place. The speed limits were set in the early 60's, no ABS, no disc brakes, no servos i reckon a learner can stop in 30 feet at 30mph not 75 feet as the highway code states in modern cars."

20 mph, having to stay in 3rd gear more = higher revs = more pollution! Go figure!
