Is 20mph too slow?

Portsmouth City Council is slashing the speed limit in residential areas from 30mph to 20mph and other councils are expected to follow suit. Will this save lives or is bureaucracy just killing motoring?

25 mph would be more reasonable because most cars even small ones have to go into 3rd or second gear to get that low and therefore cause more pollution.

You don't even need to be a scientist to understand that slowing traffic down creates traffic jams and increases the volume traffic, as we all know an increase in traffic reduces the flow of traffic as a consequence, result potential mayhem.

Yes 20 mph is too slow.
Going from clearway areas/speed to 30 is bad enough, down to 20 is worse, whats next 10 mph.
