Portsmouth City Council is slashing the speed limit in residential areas from 30mph to 20mph and other councils are expected to follow suit. Will this save lives or is bureaucracy just killing motoring?
20mph is way to slow and my car uses more fuel than if i was at 30mph and i thought that when they changed the speed limit around schools and in town to 20 they was going to put the limit up to 80 on the motorway.
another thing the distance they say it takes for a car to stop is wrong and was set about 20 or 30 years ago a new car can stop in half the distance so i dont see why we are getting told to slow down when cars are safer than they have ever been.
on someof our roads 20 would be a good average to attain ! No, its not too slow and shouldbe rigidly enforced in towns and residential areas.
Speed is not the problem, skill/ability is the problem. Emergency vehicles have to speed sometimes, but with the training/experience etc that they have makes all the difference. Who is safer an inexperienced driver keeping to the limit or a experienced driver going a bit over?
MAKE ''THE PEA HEADS' THAT MAKE UP LAWS LIKE THIS into RICKSHAW DRIVERS,
BELIEVE ME THERE ARE QUITE A FEW THICHEAD COUNCILLERS IN MEDWAY 'SITTINGING on THE COUNCILL THAT MUST BE EYEING THESE MOVES IN PORTSMOUTH.
