Will a VAT cut make you spend more this Xmas?

The Pre-Budget Report is expected to see Value Added Tax cut from 17.5% to 15% as part of a £15 to £20 billion "fiscal stimulus" to encourage spending and spur economic growth. The Chancellor is also said to be unveiling the plan for a 45% top rate on people earning at least £150,000 a year. Will a 2.5% VAT cut make any difference to how much you spend this Xmas?

come on guys vat makes a little affect on us unless you spend big money then you say i have saved £20 pound on vat. dont matter what you have not got this christmas or what you wanted.sit back and say to yourself do i need that. most times you will not childeren are just as happy with a £5 pound present as a £50 one when they are small and the older ones should know that we cannot give them all they want. its the tree/lights/ and happiness on the day what makes christmas. so sit back and say do we need that we havent got a lot this year but it still will be a great day.so go and have a beill day and a merry xmas

We will not spend in this house this year on princleaple and all these silly people i see on the tv saying it does not matter you have to do it it's for the children well, it's time they thought the shildren a valuble leason in life before it's to late.
And it's well trully time we tought this Goverment a lesson 21/2% tax cut what about all stelf tax matbe they get rid off that and show that they really mean business we have never been so taxed in all our lives as under this goverement with all thier hidden tax and every body seem's to have forgotten that. And how they can say inflation is coming down well what a load off rubbish that must be according to them any way falling food prices when did they last go shopping the supermarkets are just ramping the prices up beyond belief they are putting small items up that where fourty pence to 70 pence and putting pounds on larger items it' a dam right discrace and they will not get a penny off my money i am going to a farm shop to get my christmas dinner and that is it the suppermarkets can go to hell.
