Inflation is now dropping at its fastest rate for 16 years thanks to falling fuel prices. But despite this the cost of a typical shopping basket leapt to 21.3 per cent in November – adding more than £1,100 a year to family grocery bills. Are the supermarkets ripping us off by not passing on price reductions?
where there is profit to be made we the consumer will always be ripped of , but of the latter ten years we have had a government that has done every thing possible to assist them in ripping us of so as long as we have this new labour i am afraid it will continue
The oil companies have ripped us off sincethe stuff was discovered and first used - this govt and oil companies make a mint out of us. Supermarkets make huge amounts of money, I have noticed dramatic price increases, even flippin chewing gum that has gone up in price well out of proportion! I personally have decided to bite chunks out of car tyres and chew that - its a good way to recycle. All I can say is take advantage of all the offers going at big supermarkets - go to Aldi or Netto if you can- they have some great reductions there and their booze is cheaper too if you have a keen eye to find it. I am clearly a bit of a saddo, but Netto have some great offers if you are prepared to hunt a bit - string, bins, duvet covers, socks - tables, slow cookers, keyboards......yawn Im off to bed.
lay of maggie, when the tories sold of the utility companies they kept a good stake in them so they had some control.it is this present government that has sold of our remaining stake in them so it could fund all the silly ideas it could come up with.gordon brown was also responsible for selling off our gold reserves to the russians for half its value,if he hadnt done that this country would not be in this mess because its value has tripled, meaning that if the gold had been worth 500billion before he sold it,it would now be worth1500billion which would have been enough to get us out of the crap we are now in without him now going out with the begging bowl.
Pensioners are being ripped off big time as far as I hear we are getting about 3% as Sept inflation??? and we won't get it till April so no doubt prices wii have gone up a bit more again. My elect. and Gas went up 35% (£35 per month) and it goes up from January. So right away I've lost 5 or 6 weeks pay rise before I even get it.
