The minimum wage for over 22s in the UK is £5.35 an hour. Do you think this is reasonable? What do you think is a good wage to earn and how hard would you be prepared to work for it? Should 18-21 year olds receive the same minimum wage as over 22s? Why, in the 21st century, do some women still earn less than men for doing the same job?
sheila you ugly slag he is right. you are the good for nothing slag. rich nicely said. i agree m8
Rich from Notts summed himself up in his last few sentences. "This country is getting no work out of me" No wonder he wants everyones wages to go up, then they will all be paying more tax in order to fund people like him. What he seems to forget is that the people in he higher tax brackets are giving 40% of everything they earn to fund lazy good for nothings who cant be bothered to even look for a job.
I have seen so many riculous comments on this forum. Rich from Notts is a classic example, comparing the wages of a judge with those of a cleaner. I appreciate that cleaning is vital to any industry, but wages follow a pattern, its like supply and demand, we need cleaners and we need judges however the skills required are where the difference lies. Most people could do a cleaning job, I realise many do not want to but most people have the skills required and those that dont can be trained how to carry out their role reasonably quickly and cheaply. A judge on the other hane has to have been through a University education, not cheap. He has to practice as a solicitor then pass further exams on law and procedure. This education has to be ongoing throughout their entire working lives. Yes cleaning is more physically demanding but to compare the two is madness.
Unfortunately in this country because of the rise in the cost of living whatever you earn is never enough. In 1987 when I started my job I would take home about 850 a month. I lived with my parents and apart from the fact I gave them 250 a month for the benfit of living at home. ( wahsing clothes, getting fed etc. ) I had no other real commtments. had an old car and petrol and tax was not excessive. I ended up with about 500 a month "disposable" income. I was young and carefree. roll on 22 years and while my wages have gone up as I have progressed at work. I now have 2 teenage chidren, a mortgage, pension, and the usual costs that everyone in the country has. Disposable income is a thing of the past. How much is enough.....it totally depends on your circumstances.
minimum wage needs to go up and benefit payments reduced its crazy that those who dont work have as much or more than those who work
